The Russell County Ambulance Service is reporting an improving financial outlook following several years of struggles.
The Ambulance Service Board of Directors held its regular monthly meeting Tuesday morning. Board Chairman Jeramy Coffey told WJRS NEWS that August was a busy month for local EMS crews, with 279 total runs.
Coffey says the service is also making progress financially.
Additional help will soon come from the state following passage of legislation establishing annual supplemental Medicaid payments for ambulance services.
The new program is projected to provide the Russell County Ambulance Service with well over 100-thousand dollars annually. Those funds will be received in quarterly installments.
