Convenience Store and Restaurant Proposed for Former Hardee’s Site in Jamestown

A new convenience store and restaurant could soon be coming to North Main Street in Jamestown.

The Jamestown City Council purchased the former Hardee’s property back in February. Since then, Mayor Regena Hinton has been in talks with a potential buyer and developer.

The council held a special called meeting last night, spending just over an hour in executive session.

After returning to open session, council members voted unanimously to authorize Hinton to enter into a contract with the interested party. The contract will include provisions recommended by the council, although those terms have not been made public.

Hinton told WJRS NEWS that, if the deal is completed, the former Hardee’s building would be demolished. A new building would then be constructed to house a convenience store and restaurant.

The former Hardee’s building has sat vacant for nearly 25 years.
