KSP Arrests Albany Man on Strangulation and Assault Charges

Kentucky State Police have arrested an Albany man following a reported domestic violence incident in Clinton County.

KSP says Senior Trooper Brandon Poole responded to a residence Thursday afternoon, where he found a woman with visible injuries to her face and neck. The woman told Trooper Poole that Jacob Smith had strangled her, struck her in the face and threatened to kill her during an altercation. Police also learned she had an active protective order against Smith.

Smith reportedly fled into a wooded area before the trooper arrived and was not located during an initial search.

Troopers found Smith Friday morning at a residence on Browns Pond Wago Road. The 38-year-old was arrested on charges of first-degree strangulation involving domestic violence, fourth-degree assault, third-degree terroristic threatening and violating a Kentucky protective order.

Smith was lodged in the Clinton County Detention Center.
