Two-Year-Old Critically Injured; Somerset Man Charged

A Somerset man has been arrested after a two-year-old child was hospitalized with serious injuries.

Kentucky State Police say they were contacted Thursday by Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital about the unresponsive child. The child was flown to U-K Hospital in Lexington and remains in critical condition.

Investigators say 22-year-old Jack Kelsay was the child’s sole caretaker at the time of the alleged abuse. Kelsay is charged with first-degree assault and first-degree criminal abuse of a child under 12.

Det. Keegan Bray is continuing his investigation.
