The Russell County Board of Education will hold its regular monthly meeting Monday at 5:00 p.m. at the Auditorium/Natatorium Complex in Room 114.
The board will recognize several outstanding achievements including Piper Garmon will be honored as the Kentucky FFA state champion in horse speaking, while Kendall Melton will be recognized as the state champion in greenhouse public speaking. Preschool staff members will also receive recognition for achieving Kentucky ALL STARS Level Five, the program’s highest quality rating.
Board members are scheduled to consider proposed tax rates for the 2026–2027 school year, staffing and a lead-teacher stipend for the SEED Academy, and an addendum to the district’s staffing and allocation policy.
Other agenda items include PTO fundraisers, updated special education procedures and purchases for the First National Bank Athletic Complex—including an ice machine, picnic tables and a flagpole.
The board will also consider canceling its regular September meeting and scheduling a special meeting because of a conflict with the Kentucky School Boards Association regional meeting.
