Lady Laker Soccer Sweeps Casey County

The Russell County Lady Laker soccer team earned a pair of shutout victories over Casey County Thursday.

In varsity action, Russell County defeated the Lady Rebels seven to nothing.

Addison Coffey led the scoring with two goals. Carly Shearer, Roselyn Fuentes, Madison Bennett, Kambyr Bradshaw and Mercedez Sanchez each added one.

Bennett recorded two assists, while Coffey and Shearer had one apiece.

In goal, Bella Blakey made nine saves and Aubrey Farmer recorded four.

The Lady Lakers also won the junior varsity match five to nothing. Makenzie Bennett scored four goals, while Ava McFarland added one. Kelsey Roy and McFarland each recorded an assist, and Vonzie Hill made six saves.

Coach Cheryl Newby’s varsity Lady Lakers will travel to Campbellsville for a non-conference match Saturday morning at 11.
