Laker Boys Soccer Win Home Opener vs. Glasgow

The Russell County Laker boys soccer team faced off against Glasgow High School Tuesday, August 11.

With an early indirect free kick in the 18th minute, Xavi Medrano fired a shot from 20 yards and beat Glasgow’s keeper. He was assisted by Andre Perez. This gave the Lakers the lead and had Glasgow on their heels.

The game continued as a stalemate through the second half until the game was delayed due to lightning in the 67th minute. Due to the weather the match was not able to resume and the Lakers took the win.

Their next match will be Thursday, August 13th, at Casey County High School for varsity and junior varsity games starting at 5:00 p.m. (video clip and photos provided by Ramie Hutchison, Hutch Media)
