Blair Bailey drove in four runs on five hits to lead Russell County 8U All-Stars past Anderson County All- Stars on Saturday. Blair doubled in the fifth scoring two, singled in the first scoring one, and singled in the seventh scoring one.
Russell County 8U All-Stars collected 45 hits and had 25 in the high-scoring affair.
Russell County 8U All-Stars got on the board in the top of the first inning after Adri Stephens doubled, scoring two runs, Blair singled, scoring one run, and Ava Pierce doubled, scoring two runs.
Russell County 8U All-Stars added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Skylynn Abston doubled down the left field line, and Mia Coppage singled to right field, each scoring one run.
Russell County 8U All-Stars added one run in the third. Adri Stephens singled, making the score 8-5.
Anderson County All-Stars tied the game in the bottom of the fourth thanks to a double by Larkin Y, a ground out by Peyton W, and an inside the park home run by Molly H.
Russell County 8U All-Stars flipped the game on its head in the top of the fifth, scoring five runs on seven hits to take the lead, 14-9. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Blair Bailey that drove in two.
Anderson County All-Stars tied the game up in the bottom of the sixth thanks to three doubles.
Russell County 8U All-Stars flipped the game on its head in the top of the seventh, scoring 10 runs on 16 hits to take the lead, 24-14. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Skylynn Abston that drove in two.
Russell County 8U All-Stars collected 45 hits in the game. Adri Stephens, Blair Bailey, and Averie Toebbe each collected five hits for Russell County 8U All Stars. Briley Irion, Freya Mann, Eleanor Antle, Myla Wallace, Kora Cooper, Mia Coppage, Ava Pierce, and Bella Aaron each collected multiple hits for Russell County 8U All Stars. Russell County 8U All Stars were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Averie made the most plays with eight.
We lost our first game to South Oldham 13-2 but won second game 24-14. The Russell County 8U All-Stars play again Sunday at 8 :00 a.m. central time.
