Russell County 8U Lady Lakers Make History with State Tournament Berth

The Russell County 8U Lady Lakers are making history this weekend as they become the first 8-and-under softball team from Russell County to qualify for the Kentucky State Tournament.

The Lady Lakers will travel to Marion County for state tournament play, where they’ll open competition Saturday at 11:45 Central Time.

Coaches say the team has worked hard throughout the season to earn the opportunity, including holding four practices this week to prepare for the tournament and represent Russell County on the statewide stage.

Regardless of the outcome, the Lady Lakers have already made history with their state tournament appearance, marking a milestone for youth softball in Russell County.

Fans are encouraged to show their support by following the team’s first game online Saturday morning.
