Campbellsville Teen Killed in Early Morning Marion County Shooting

The Marion County Sheriff announced this afternoon on social media that an arrest has been made in connection with the shooting death of Jaron Johnson. Neither the name of the person taken into custody nor the charge(s) filed has been released yet by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

An 18-year-old Campbellsville man is dead following an early Sunday morning shooting in Marion County.

According to reports, the Marion County Sheriff says deputies responded to a residence on Penick Road in Lebanon at approximately 2:30 a.m. after receiving a report of a possible shooting. When they arrived, they found Jaron J. Johnson of Campbellsville dead at the scene.

According to the preliminary investigation, a large party was taking place at the residence when a fight broke out. Investigators say a firearm was produced during the altercation, and shots were fired, resulting in Johnson’s death.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate. No arrests or charges have been announced.

Following the tragedy, Taylor County High School, where Johnson was preparing to begin his senior year, released a statement expressing its condolences. School officials say grief counselors will be available this week to support students and staff as the community mourns the loss.
