Jamestown Police charge Frenchburg man in vehicle theft case

The Jamestown Police Department has charged a Frenchburg man in the case of a stolen vehicle discovered earlier this week.

41-year-old Danny Prater was charged with receiving stolen property valued between $1,000 and $10,000.

Prater was arrested earlier this week by the Russell County Sheriff’s Office on multiple failure to appear charges.

Jamestown Police responded early Monday morning after a call came in of an abandoned truck parked near the playground area at Jamestown Elementary.

Jamestown Police Chief Jeff Kerns told WJRS News officers learned the vehicle was reported stolen from Somerset. Kerns said a joint investigation involving Jamestown Police and Somerset Police remains ongoing.
