Today is the final day for candidates to file their paperwork to run for non-partisan offices in the general election, such as mayor, city council, school board, and soil and water conservation district supervisor.
Candidates have until 4 p.m. today to file their paperwork with the county clerk’s office.
Yesterday saw Joey Hoover file for a seat on the Jamestown City Council. Hoover joins William Murray, Ada Marcum Lawson, Mitchell Marcum, and Jared Roy as candidates for the Jamestown City Council. There are a total of six seats on the city council.
In Russell Springs, five candidates have filed for six seats so far. The five candidates are sitting council members Lance Huckaby, Gary Gene Frost, Timmy Hudson, Sherry Bottom Daniel, and Ricky Barnes.
Three candidates are running for Jamestown Mayor, including current city council members Barry Coffey and Dwight Richards, as well as Brian Young. Jamestown Mayor Regena Hinton has indicated she will not seek re-election.
Russell Springs Mayor Eddie Thomas is seeking re-election. He is being challenged by current city council member Cody L. Wilson.
School board chairman Dick Kazsuk has filed for re-election and is currently unopposed in District 4.
So far, no candidates have filed for the school board seat in District 2, which is currently held by Eric Selby.
Three candidates have filed to run for soil and water conservation district supervisor. Those candidates are Darrell Selby, Sandra Voils, and Michael Gene Rexroat.
