Russell County’s annual unemployment rate for 2025 was 5 percent, coming in around the middle of the pack for the Lake Cumberland area.
According to the recently-released data, the lowest 2025 unemployment rate in the area was in Cumberland County at 4.3 percent, followed by Adair County at 4.7 percent and Pulaski County at 4.8 percent.
Looking at other neighboring counties, Casey County came in at 5.1 percent, Clinton County at 5.4 percent and Wayne County at 5.9 percent, tied with McCreary County for the highest in the area.
The statewide unemployment rate came in at 4.6 percent for 2025. County unemployment rates ranged from 3.5 percent in Woodford County to 9.1 percent in Martin County.
