Man indicted in connection with burglary at Somerset mall, other locations

A Nancy man was indicted by a Pulaski County grand jury this week in connection with a burglary at the Somerset Mall and other locations.

46-year-old James Gurley of Nancy was indicted on two counts of burglary third degree, theft by unlawful taking – more than $1,000 but less than $10,000; criminal mischief first degree, criminal mischief second degree, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and persistent felony offender second degree.

The burglary cases began on March 7 when Gurley allegedly broke into the Cumberland Green Valero store on Highway 90 in Wayne County and attempted to steal an ATM. He later allegedly broke into Poppa’s Convenience Store in Bronston and then broke into the Somerset Mall.

A joint investigation by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office and Somerset Police Department led to Gurley’s arrest.

He remains lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
