A Russell County EMS employee was arrested yesterday and charged with Attempted Promotion of a Sexual Performance by a Minor.
The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office said 51-year-old Arnold L. Merrit Jr. of Eubank was arrested following an investigation by the office’s Crimes Against Children division.
The sheriff’s office alleges Merrit made statements of a sexual context to the victim, who is under the age of 16.
Merrit was lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center at around 4:30 local time yesterday afternoon.
Russell County EMS Director Charles Shepherd told WJRS News Merrit was placed on administrative leave effective immediately when he learned of the situation.
Merrit has worked for Russell County EMS for less than a year.
