School district’s budget will be heavily impacted by decisions on state budget

School districts across the state are carefully watching the state legislature this year, as this year is a budget session for legislators in Frankfort.

Russell County Schools Superintendent Michael Ford said decisions made by the state legislature regarding the state budget make a notable impact on school district budgets.

The board of education reviewed a draft budget at its last meeting, but that draft budget is very tentative until the school district has a better idea of state funding. The school district bases the draft budget on the previous year, with this draft budget including revenues and expenditures around $30.5 million.
