A bill being considered in the Kentucky Senate aims to bring more agricultural products grown in Kentucky into local schools.
Senate Bill 5 would provide local school districts participating in USDA Child Nutrition programs the ability to opt for Kentucky-grown agricultural products.
State Senator Jason Howell of Murray spoke recently about Senate Bill 5.
This would be a partnership with the Kentucky Department of Agriculture. Advocates say it would also be another way to bring agriculture education into schools and teach students about where their food comes from.
Senate Bill 5 is expected to be voted on by the Kentucky Senate today.
