U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell’s office announced that several million dollars in federal funds have been secured for economic development and education projects in the southern Kentucky area.
McConnell’s office announced nearly $1.5 million in funding for an economic development project in Pulaski County that will construct an overpass to connect an emerging business park with Kentucky Highway 80, Hal Rogers Parkway, via Barnesburg Road.
$20 million will go toward a study that will enable the future construction project of widening the Hal Rogers Parkway.
$20 million was secured to construct the new Cave City Area Agriculture Exposition Center in Barren County. This new facility aims to host several events and foster economic development.
Another $11 million was secured for the McCreary County Heritage Foundation, to facilitate planning, design, and construction of a number of improvements intended to foster economic development in the community.
$3 million was secured for Campbellsville University. Those funds will go to support faculty salaries, professional development, and accreditation at a new College of Mental Health that will launch with three new degree programs.
These projects were included in the Fiscal Year 26 appropriations bill that recently passed through the United States Congress.
