Russell Springs LED street light conversion set to begin next month

The City of Russell Springs is set to begin its conversion to LED street lights next month.

Russell Springs Mayor Eddie Thomas said Kentucky Utilities has completed its street light audit and workers will begin converting street light bulbs to LED bulbs in February.

The Russell Springs City Council voted unanimously in April of last year to convert the remainder of its street lights to LED.

At that time, city officials said the city’s monthly bill for street lights would increase by about $500 per month for 60 months with the conversion. However, after that 60-month period, the city’s monthly bill is expected to decrease by about $1,500/month.
