Mayrene Hammond, of Bee Spring, formerly of Russell Springs, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2025, at Bowling Green Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was 93 years of age.
Born on September 23, 1932, in Russell County, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Caroline Lawson Luttrell. Mayrene was a homemaker and a member of Fairview Separate Baptist Church. Mayrene enjoyed gardening and canning and helping her late husband, Joe, in his garage. She was a loving mother and grandmother to her family.
Mayrene is survived by her son, David (and Margaret) Hammond, of Bee Spring; her step-grandson, Phillip Helton; and two step great-grandchildren, Ashton and Ava.
In addition to her parents, Mayrene was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Hammond, who passed away on April 7, 2020; her brothers, Ricy Luttrell, Garnet Luttrell, Raymond Luttrell, Roy Luttrell, Ray Luttrell, and Avis Luttrell; and her sisters, Ica Robertson, Mary Cordilia Swanson, and Eva Swanson.
Funeral services are 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Bernard Funeral Home, with Brother Kim Johnson officiating. Special music will be provided by Janice Popplewell and Robin Riddle. Burial will follow in Birdie Russell Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until the time of services on Tuesday, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Paul Robertson, Patrick Cooper, David Hale, David Reese, Kim Johnson, and Josh Muir.
