The Russell County Detention Center has utilized a reentry program for more than five years that has been key for people being released from the detention center.
Russell County Jailer Bobby Dunbar was recently a guest on Community Conversation on WJRS, where he talked about the reentry program.
Dunbar said leading up to implementing the program, he and the staff at the detention center realized those being released from the detention center faced several barriers, like not having a photo ID.
Dunbar said community partnerships have been key for the reentry program, particularly in helping people find employment.
Community Conversation can be heard on WJRS weekday mornings at 7:15. Interviews are archived and can be listened to anytime by clicking the podcast tab on our website at lakercountry.com
