The Russell County Health Department is reminding parents about vaccines students need before they return to school.
Bridgett Kean with the local health department was recently a guest on Community Conversation on WJRS. She said parents of incoming 6th graders particularly need to be aware about the needed vaccinations.
Students who have recently turned 16 are also reminded that they need a meningitis booster.
The health department is hosting a back-to-school event on Wednesday, and those students who need vaccines for the coming school year can receive those vaccines then. The back to school event takes place at the health department from 8:30 until 3:30.
Anyone who wishes to make an appointment for vaccinations or has questions about the vaccines for school can contact the health department at 270-343-2181.
