State Unemployment Sits at 5%

Kentucky’s seasonally adjusted preliminary May 2025 unemployment rate was 5.0 percent, according to the Kentucky Center for Statistics.

The May jobless rate was down 0.2 percentage points from April and up 0.1 percentage points from one year ago.

The U.S. seasonally adjusted jobless rate for May was 4.2 percent, which was unchanged from April, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.

New updated county unemployment figures are scheduled to be released later this week.
