At least two county magistrates have told WJRS news they will support an ordinance which would permit ATVs and side-by-side vehicles to be operated on roadways within the county.
First district Magistrate Terry Waddell and Third district Magistrate Zach Wilson both say they support a state law which goes into effect next Friday. However, the law requires county governments to opt in and adopt an ordinance permitting these vehicles on roadways within the county.
Prior to lawfully being operated on the roadways, The vehicles must be inspected by the Sheriff, insured, and then licensed by the county clerk
With Waddell and Wilson confirming their support, at least one other magistrate would need to support the ordinance for its adoption. The matter is expected to be discussed at the July meeting.
