Jamestown man arrested on multiple assault charges

A Jamestown man was arrested on multiple assault charges over the weekend.

37-year-old Matthew Popplewell of Jamestown was arrested and charged with assault second degree, assault third degree against a police officer, assault fourth degree causing minor injury, menacing, terroristic threatening third degree, and alcohol intoxication in a public place.

Popplewell was arrested by Deputy Chris Tweedy with the Russell County Sheriff’s Office. He was lodged in the Russell County Detention Center.
