Sheriff’s office responded to more than 400 calls last month

The Russell County Sheriff’s Office responded to more than 400 calls for service last month.

Sheriff Derek Polston reported 426 calls for service in February. That’s a higher-than-normal call volume for February for the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office made 15 arrests last month, not including electronic citations. The sheriff’s office also worked 19 traffic accidents, including 5 with injuries.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to 8 domestic calls and 6 animal complaints last month. Deputies answered 25 alarm calls and 2 calls of shots fired.

The sheriff’s office performed 130 vehicle inspections and issued 14 concealed carry permits.

The office collected more than $500,000 in property taxes last month as well.
