RCIDA announces sale of drag strip property

The Russell County Industrial Development Authority has formally announced the sale of the property known to many as the Lake Cumberland Dragway.

The authority sold the property to Danny McGlothin of Somerset. McGlothin plans to revitalize the site into a new drag racing attraction.

Russell County IDA Chair Clint Voils said selling the property alleviates liability concerns for the IDA, and should provide growth for the community.

Recent drag racing events have been very successful. Russell County Tourism Director Danielle Wilson estimated these events have generated over $150,000 for the local economy.
