When snow and ice cause hazardous road conditions, Russell County Search and Rescue is often called to assist local residents.
Search and Rescue volunteers help transport essential workers, such as employees at hospitals and nursing homes.
Search and Rescue Chief Chris Money said volunteers are ready to assist local residents if snow and ice make travel difficult.
Money said Search and Rescue crews also coordinate and assist other local officials during winter storms.
