16th District tournament schedule released

With district games wrapped up for the season, the schedule for the upcoming 16th District tournament basketball games has been released.

The tournament is hosted by Cumberland County this year.

On the girls side, Russell County is the 4-seed, playing in the opening round game on Sunday, February 23 against Clinton County. That game will tip-off at 3 p.m. with the winner advancing to play the 1-seed Metcalfe County on Monday, February 24.

On the boys side, the Lakers earned the 3-seed. They’ll take on the host Cumberland County on Tuesday, February 25. That will be the second game of the night, with tip-off at approximately 7:30.

The girls district championship will be played on Thursday, February 27 and the boys championship will be on Friday, the 28th.
