The Russell County Fiscal Court unanimously approved the annual emergency shelter interlocal agreement between the fiscal court and Russell Springs and Jamestown city councils.
The agreement involves each entity providing $1,500 to a fund that is used to provide homeless in the community a room to stay in for a night or two.
Two months ago, county officials discussed an issue with The Inn in Russell Springs and rooms not being available for needs such as this. Judge Executive Randy Marcum provided WJRS News with an update and said the county now has a unit at The Inn that can be used when officials encounter a person who is homeless.
The fiscal court voted unanimously to approve the interlocal agreement.
