The Russell County Fiscal Court is expected to hold a second reading and vote on an amendment to the county’s solid waste ordinance from the 1990s at next week’s court meeting.
The amendment would require vehicles hauling garbage to be covered to prevent litter from falling onto the roadway. Litter on county roadways has been a consistent problem, according to Russell County Judge Executive Randy Marcum, who spoke about the issue yesterday on Community Conversations on WJRS.
The fiscal court will meet on Monday at 10 a.m. at the Russell County Courthouse. The meeting is open to the public.
