Total harvest results from the recently completed deer hunting season have been released by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife.
The department reported 585 total deer harvested locally, the highest number since 1999.
Around the Lake Cumberland area, Pulaski had the most deer harvested at just over 2,500. Adair County had a little over 1,900; Casey had more than 1,300 and Wayne County was just under 1,300; Cumberland had just over 1,000; and Clinton was just under Russell County at 536.
Each of the counties in the Lake Cumberland area saw a notable increase in deer harvested from previous years.
That follows a statewide trend, as fish and wildlife officials said this past season was the second-highest harvest ever recorded with nearly 150,000 deer harvested statewide. Only 2015 had a higher number than this past season.
