The collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore earlier this year brought attention to bridge safety across the nation.
The U.S. Department of Transportation provides ratings for bridges across the state based off multiple factors with bridges receiving a rating of good, fair, or poor.
A bridge receiving a “poor” rating does not necessarily indicate it is unsafe to cross.
According to data from the federal department, 3 of 46 bridges in Russell County were rated “poor.”
Those bridges, according to the report, were KY 3281 over Mt. Vernon Creek, KY 379 over Crocus Creek, and KY 92 over Liberty Creek.
Of the remaining 43 bridges in Russell County, 33 were classified as “fair” and 10 classified as “good.”
