Russell County has seen an increase in voter registration in 2024.
According to new data from the Kentucky Board of Elections, Russell County’s voter registration increased from 14,175 in January to 14,243 in July.
In terms of party registration, there was a slight increase in Republican voters, with the number of registered Republicans in the county increasing by about one-third of a percent. On the other hand, the number of Democrat voters took a slight dip, with a decrease of about three-quarters of a percent from January to July.
Most notably when it comes to parties, the number of independent voters rose by nearly six percent during this time span.
There is still time to register to vote for the November general election. The last day a person can register to vote to be able to vote in the November general election is Monday, Oct. 7.
