Deadline to apply for free smoke alarm is nearing

The deadline to apply for a program offering free smoke alarms is drawing near.

Local emergency services and the American Red Cross are partnering to offer free smoke alarm to Russell County residents.

WJRS News spoke with Russell Springs Assistant Fire Chief Mark Barnett about the program.

This program is available to Russell County residents only, and the smoke alarms must be installed by one of the local fire departments.
