The first Yule Light Up the Night 5K held last weekend brought a strong turnout with almost $3,900 raised for a local charity.
According to event organizers, 113 runners registered for the 5K, which went through the Russell Springs City Park and Russell County Fairgrounds Saturday night.
All the proceeds from the event were donated to the Russell County Jaycees Toys for Tots, which provides children in Russell County with Toys for Christmas. In total, $3,890 was raised for the charity.
Event organizers hope to make the 5K an annual event in Russell Springs.
