Aaron’s big night leads Lakers to region semifinals

Senior Nick Aaron had a big performance last night as the Russell County Lakers defeated the Barren County Trojans to 5-1 to advance to the 4th Region semifinals.

Aaron got the nod on the mound, pitching 7 innings and giving up just two hits and one run, while striking out 7 batters.

At the plate, Aaron was 2-3 and drove in a team-high three runs.

Aidan Antle drove in a run for the Lakers as well, and Antle and Mayes Gosser each finished with a pair of hits.

With the win, the Lakers will play in the 4th Region Tournament semifinals tonight at Western Kentucky University against Bowling Green.

The Purples defeated Logan County 11-8 last night in the opening round.

Russell County and Bowling Green will play in the first game, which is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. You can hear the broadcast with Derek Aaron and Charlie Anderson with pregame coverage beginning at 5:15 p.m.
