There will be a blood drive in honor of local EMT/firefighter Michael “Brad” Loy on Thursday, August 8th from noon to 5:00 pm at the South Kentucky RECC building in Russell Springs.
Loy suffered a medical emergency while on duty on July 27th. He underwent emergency surgery at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset and was airlifted to UK where he underwent two additional surgeries.
Brad is currently at home with his wife and daughter and is focusing on his recovery. During his time in the hospital, Loy received at least 10 units of blood. Many were ready to step up and give direct blood donations during that time. Thankfully, that wasn’t needed but there are plenty of others who can benefit from blood donation.
