A public vigil, visitation and funeral service have been announced for Kentucky State Police Trooper Hayden Phillips, a Russell County native killed in the line of duty Monday.
The public vigil will be held Thursday evening at six o’clock Central Time at Kentucky State Police Post 15 in Columbia.
Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, October 3rd, from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Living Hope Baptist Church, located at 1805 Westen Street in Bowling Green.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, October 4th, at 12 noon Western Kentucky University’s E. A. Diddle Arena, located at 1605 Avenue of Champions in Bowling Green.
Phillips was a 2016 graduate of Russell County High School and previously served with the Russell Springs and Eli fire departments, Russell County EMS and the Russell Springs and Glasgow police departments before joining Kentucky State Police three years ago.
He was shot and killed during a traffic stop on Interstate 65 north of Bowling Green around two o’clock Monday afternoon.
Meanwhile, the man accused of shooting and killing Trooper Phillips was formally arraigned Tuesday morning in Warren District Court.
Emmoni Branch, 51, of Portland, Tennessee, is charged with murder of a first responder, a police officer. Bond was not set, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Friday morning.
Branch remains in the Warren County Detention Center.
