An outstanding Independence Day weekend is being credited with bringing thousands of visitors to Russell County and communities across the Lake Cumberland region. Russell County Tourism Executive Director Danielle Wilson says the holiday weekend exceeded expectations, with marinas, restaurants, lodging properties and other lake-oriented businesses reporting strong crowds throughout the area.
Wilson says the excitement extended well beyond Russell County, with successful celebrations throughout the region.
Wilson says the combination of recent major events and strong visitor traffic is providing a significant boost to the local tourism economy and expects that momentum to continue throughout the remainder of the summer season.
