Heavy rainfall in neighboring Cumberland and Clinton counties caused significant flooding issues.
A local state of emergency was declared in Cumberland and Clinton counties, as well as the cities of Burkesville and Albany.
At least two water rescues were reported in Cumberland County, with one being a family in a home near Burkesville and another rescue involving a car near the Pittman Creek area.
Water rescues were also reported in Clinton County, including multiple homes on Roy Grider Road not far from the Clinton County Schools campuses.
Cumberland County Judge-Executive Luke King was on WJRS yesterday during live severe weather coverage, and said the floodwaters affected several roads across the county, as well as the City of Burkesville.
Clinton County Sheriff Ricky Marcum was also on WJRS yesterday and spoke about evacuating residents as floodwaters rose.
Flooding was also reported in some other nearby areas including Wayne County and Metcalfe County yesterday.
