Brian Robinson working hard to earn playing time on UK defensive line

Brian Robinson was one of the stars of Kentucky’s 2024 recruiting class. He was a unanimous four-star recruit that then recruiting coordinator Vince Marrow brought to Kentucky from Ohio. The 6-foot-4, 260-pound Robinson was ranked as the nation’s 79th best player by ESPN and was a consensus top 200 recruit and top 10 recruit out of Ohio.

He picked Kentucky over Michigan and Penn State but also had offers from Georgia, Notre Dame, USC, Auburn, Texas A&M, Tennessee and others.

Robinson played briefly against Ohio and Murray State in 2024 during his redshirt season. Last season he practiced with the team but did not play. Most expected he would transfer after Marrow and then head coach Mark Stoops left  UK but he stayed and now defensive line coach Anwar Stewart is liking what he has seen from him during spring practice.

“He is getting better and better every day. That is the expectation that we all get better,” said UK’s defensive line coach. “I don’t do the depth chart. They (players) do the depth chart. Brian has to earn the right like every other young man on this team to play.

“That’s what he is doing. He is in the weight room and coming early, leaving late, He is doing all the things he needs to do to get on the field. That is what it is about.”
