Local unemployment decreases nearly 2 percent in December

Russell County’s unemployment rate decreased nearly 2 percent in December.

The Kentucky Center for Statistics reported a local unemployment rate of 3.3 percent in December, down from 5.2 percent in December 2024.

Russell County’s unemployment rate was the lowest in the Lake Cumberland area.

Cumberland County was at 3.6 percent, Adair and Pulaski County at 3.7 percent, and Casey County at 3.8 percent.

Clinton County was at 4.5 percent and Wayne County was the highest in the Lake Cumberland area at 4.7 percent.

All 120 Kentucky counties saw a decrease in unemployment from December 2024 to December 2025.
