Legislation proposed to expand access to Pre-K education

Legislation is being proposed in Frankfort that would expand access to Pre-K education for Kentucky families and children.

House Bills 574 and 572 are companion bills aimed at expanding Pre-K for 4-year-olds.

Representative Anne Gay Donworth of Lexington, a co-sponsors of the legislation, said the legislation will help students be ready to enter kindergarten and improve graduation rates, among other benefits.

Donworth said the expansion would be funded by revenue from sports wagering in the state.

Similar legislation has been filed in the state senate.
