State income tax reduction goes into effect today

The state’s income tax reduction officially goes into effect today.

The state decreased its income tax rate from 4 percent to 3.5 percent.

The latest census data shows the median household income in Russell County is $50,520. That means the average household in Russell County will save around $250 annually.
