Russell and surrounding counties have been placed under a Winter Storm Watch by the National Weather Service.
The watch extends from midnight on Saturday to 6 a.m. Monday.
According to the weather service, periods of moderate to heavy snow are forecast this weekend with the possibility of a wintry mix of snow and sleet across southern Kentucky.
