Russell Springs man arrested following alleged hit-and-run incident

A Russell Springs man was arrested following an alleged hit-and-run incident on Highway 127 last week.

40-year-old Scott Wilkerson was arrested and charged with wanton endangerment first degree, leaving the scene of an accident, tampering with physical evidence, reckless driving, and other charges.

Russell Springs Police say the accident happened on Monday, January 19. Police say Wilkerson was operating a 2021 Dodge Ram northbound on Highway 127 at around 1:30 in the afternoon when he allegedly turned left in front of a 2011 Ford Ranger operated by 52-year-old Brett Chance of Russell Springs, causing a collision.

Chance suffered injuries in the collision and was taken to the hospital by private vehicle, according to police. Police allege Wilkerson fled the scene following the collision.

Wilkerson was arrested by Deputy Devin Blakey with the Russell County Sheriff’s Office yesterday. He was lodged in the Russell County Detention Center a little after 6:00 last night.
