A local state of emergency has been declared by Russell County Judge-Executive Randy Marcum ahead of the winter storm expected to hit the state this weekend.
The state of emergency allows the county’s emergency operations plan to be put into effect and coordinate local government agencies to provide assistance to citizens who may be impacted by the storm.
The winter storm is expected to bring snow, ice and arctic temperatures, and could result in power outages.
