A burn ban is now in effect for Russell County following an executive order by Judge-Executive Randy Marcum.
No outdoor burning is allowed until further notice with violators being subject to fines and penalties.
The ban is for all open burning due to the current drought conditions.
Burn bans are also in effect in Adair, Casey, Green and Taylor counties.
The burn ban will remain in effect until further notice.
