A Russell Springs man was arrested on multiple charges yesterday evening after reports of shots being fired into a home on G. Brown Road off Owenstown Road.
Russell County Sheriff Derek Polston told WJRS News an investigation was launched after shots were fired into the home. That incident led to a search warrant being executed and the arrest of 69-year-old Edward Crump. Crump is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, wanton endangerment first degree, criminal mischief first degree, and violation of an EPO/DVO.
That search warrant led to the seizure of four handguns, an AR-15 rifle, three shotguns, and ammunition.
The sheriff’s office said Crump had a lifetime protection order out of Florida banning him from buying or possessing firearms and multiple felony convictions.
Crump was arrested by Deputy Corey Meyer with the Russell County Sheriff’s Office. He was assisted by Sergeant Nathan Bradshaw and deputies Matt Parrish, Stone Bolin, and Devin Blakey. Members of Kentucky State Police also assisted at the scene.
Crump was lodged in the Russell County Detention Center just after 5:15 p.m. The sheriff’s office said the case may be turned over to the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
